Trump Gets 2022 PGA Championship

by Jeff Skinner

One of the biggest names in golf right now doesn’t play on the PGA Tour or any tour for that matter. He spends more time in boardrooms than fairways but Donald Trump has become the player in golf right now.

Trump and The PGA of America have announced that he’ll host the 2022 PGA Championship at his Trump Bedminster course in northern New Jersey. Trump is one of the few spending millions of dollars on golf right now. He’ll also host the 2017 Senior PGA Championship at Bedminster. With the 2017 U.S. Women’s Open already booked at Trump Bedminster Trump has three majors on three different tours in his pocket already.trump pga

He just concluded a deal giving him the Turnberry Resort which is in the Open Championship rotation so Trump could soon be the first man to host two different majors. With all respect to Lydia Ko, is there a bigger force in golf right now?

The polarizing Trump who has as many detractors as proponents is obviously making big time friends in the upper echelon of golf administration. He first tried for a U.S. Open at Bedminster and the USGA awarded him the Women’s Open but now it looks like the PGA may have struck first as they have welcomed Trump in to the exclusive world of a major championship host.

Trump has made a habit of buying distressed clubs in great locations, pouring money into them and letting the world know how wonderful they are. His formula has worked and he is one of the biggest players in the game right now.
