Bae Wins the Frys.com Open

Frys.com Open - Final RoundThe first week of the 2014-15 wrap-around PGA Tour season is in the books and Sang-Moon Bae is the first winner of the new season at the Frys.com Open.

The twenty eight year old Korean native won his second PGA Tour event as he fought through his worst round of the week to hang on for a two shot win over Steven Bowditch.

Bae started the round with a comfortable four stroke lead and extended it to six early on his back nine. But facing an “easy” win can get to a golfer and Bae struggled for a spell with three bogies through four holes from eleven to fourteen.

Luckily, for the Presidents Cup hopeful, his lead gave him enough of a cushion to stay in front and earn the title.

Bae has distinct goals and earning his way onto the Presidents Cup, which will be held in his home country is one of them. “It’s most important to me because it is in Korea next year. It really means a lot,” he said. “If I can’t play it, I will be really sad.”

Bae joins mentor K.J Choi and Y.E. Yang as the only Korean born players to win on the PGA Tour.
