Strong LPGA Q-School Class Features Cheyenne Woods & More

Tiger Woods was able to draw on the positives from his week at Isleworth as he was able to play without pain for the entire tournament. But he also got a bit of good news off the course when he was told that his niece Cheyenne Woods had earned her LPGA Tour Card.

Woods, the niece was able to survive the grueling 90 hole LPGA Q-School to earn full time playing privileges on the LPGA.   cwoods swing

After graduating from Wake Forest Woods missed out on her first two tries at Q-School and has played the Symetra Tour, The Ladies European Tour and all round the world. Earlier this year she won her first professional event at the RACV Australian Ladies Masters.

While Woods may be the most familiar name that will be joining the LPGA next year there are many accomplished ladies that will be joining her.

Top ranked amateur SooBin Kim will be leaving the number one ranked Washington Huskies to join the tour.

UCLA Sophomore and last year’s female college Player of the Year, Allison Lee will be leaving the Bruins golf team to play the LPGA. Lee who shared co-medalist honors with Minjee Lee says while she won’t be playing golf she’ll be staying in school to earn her degree. Much like Michelle Wie did at Stanford.

Minjee Lee from Australian was last year’s top female amateur and won as an amateur on the ALPGA. She had turned pro in September and now will play the LPGA full time.

It’s a very strong class of rookies and familiar names that will join Stacy Lewis, Inbee Park and Michelle Wie on the new and improved LPGA in 2015. Seven of the rookies already are ranked among the top 100 golfers in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings.

Another familiar name is 18 year old Charley Hull, 37th in the world and a star on the 2013 Solheim Cup as a 16 year old. Hull earned limited LPGA Status by finishing T28 at Q-School.

Ryann O’Toole also played in that Solheim Cup on the losing American side and had very limited success after that. But she’ll be back on the tour full time after finishing fifth in Q-School.
