Phil Mickelson has all the shots. In fact he has some shots no one else has and wouldn’t ever think of trying in competition.
But then most golfers aren’t Phil. This is typical Phil.
At The Barclays he’s kind of back in the pack and out of reach of the leaders so when he gets a chance to show off he grabs it.
Phil wants us all to know that he can do things with a golf ball that others can’t. Here’s the case in point.
At the driveable par 4 eighteenth hole Phil finds his ball on a steep up-slope near a bunker and next to the green.
Phil goes into his bag of tricks and pulls out the Backwards Philly Phlop. Only Phil would have the balls to try this. He does execute the backwards shot but miscalculated the length and left it in the bunker.
Not to worry. Phil sticks his bunker shot close and sinks the par putt.
Just another day in the fabulous life of Phil Mickelson.
