As the leaders at the Travelers Championship were finishing thier breakfast Jim Furyk went out and made history. Furyk broke the 59 barrier with a sensational 58 on the par 70 TPC River Highlands Course.
Furyk’s 58 is the first ever shot during a PGA Tour event.
This summer we watched golfers at The Open Championship and PGA threaten the major championship record 63 to no avail.
But Furyk, playing well off the lead at the notoriously low scoring Travelers took it where no PGA Tour golfer had gone before.
With a front nine 27 of six birdies and an eagle Furyk was off to the races. That’s already eight under par and he kept it going on the back nine with birdies on ten, eleven and twelve. 
He closed it out with a birdie on seventeen and a near miss birdie on eighteen for a par and a record setting twelve under 58.
Now that’s how you golf your ball.
