Oh Yea…Knox Wins Travelers, But Furyk Makes History

It was quite a day for Russell Knox at the Travelers Championship just outside of Hartford, CT. Knox continued his hot play knoxand backed up his Saturday 64 with a final round 68 to edge out University of Hartford grad, Jerry Kelly by a stroke in his old stomping grounds.

Knox said he felt like a superhero after he dropped his inning putt on the 72nd hole.

I felt like the Incredible Hulk when it went in,” Knox said. “I could have ripped my shirt off.” “Everybody dreams of making a putt on the last hole to win a tournament,” he said. “I just kept telling myself, this is your chance to make a putt to have a great celebration and hear the roars. I’m glad it went in.”

This from a guy who jokingly called himself “a Beast” after his Friday round.

It’s his second PGA Tour win and puts him in the discussion for a possible captain’s pick for the European Ryder Cup Team. He’s now tenth on the World Points list.

With all that being said, Knox will be a footnote when the 2016 Travelers is discussed in the future.

This one is all about 46 year old Jim Furyk’s 58, the lowest score ever shot on the PGA Tour.

Sorry Russell…enjoy the win, cash the check and maybe make the Ryder Cup.

But history will remember today for the shocking 58 that Jim Furyk, the scrappiest, most persistent golfer on tour put in the books.
