Longer Than the Pro V1… & Cheaper

I am as susceptible to the hype about the latest and greatest golf gear as the next hacker.  But the one constant in the world of golf is the Titleist Pro V1 ball.  Yes, you know the deal…all the pros use them, the best ball in golf and of kirkland-vs-provcourse the longest, blah, blah, blah.  Or is it?

The Pro V1’s are great but plunking down close to 50 bucks for a dozen goes against my thrifty Scottish nature.

But thanks to that fine purveyor of sporting goods, Costco, we may have another alternative. The boys at My Golf Spy.com have taken it upon themselves to test Costco’s ball, the Kirkland Signature (yea, they have their own ball) against the Pro V1 and the results are impressive.  And they only cost $15 a dozen!

With the driver, and that’s what most of us knucklehead golfers care about, Costco’s ball beats the Pro V1.  Seriously. Take a look at the data.

The Kirkland Signature comes through with less spin and more yards…over nine yards.  Sweet! And that’s only $1.25 a ball compared to $4.00 for the Pro V1’s.

Here’s a link to their full review with plenty more data.

That’s the good news…unsurprisingly their website lists them as out of stock.  Of course at that price I can see why.

I’ll be keeping an eye on their website and can’t wait to give them a try…and save some cash too.

Hat tip to Geoff Shackelford for the link.
